YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - About 300 people attend a rally in the Valley over the loss of manufacturing jobs.

Members of Steel Workers Local 1375 are concerned about the loss of 1,200 jobs at the former RG Steel. They are also calling attention to more jobs that could be lost at the GE lamp plant that has been in Warren for over 100 years and the lamp plant in Ravenna.

Steelworkers say they are pursuing a very strong corporate campaign against Phillips Manufacturing in Niles. About 45 members, who make steel fasteners for drywall, have been on strike since September and the union says the company has hired about 30 replacement workers.

They also rallied to support workers at Rotek in Aurora, Ohio.

"We're just trying to point out that everything trickles down. For every job you have at a place like General Electric or RG Steel you might have seven jobs attached to that. You have people that supply service, food industry, different things of that nature or supply components for whatever you're doing," said Scott Moore, IUE-CWA Local 722 president.
