House fire evacuates Champion home residents

CHAMPION, Ohio - About half of a home at 6921 North Park Ave. is damaged today after it caught fire.

Heavy smoke was noticed coming from the garage of the one-story wood frame home and residents began evacuating.

According to Champion fire chief, two elderly people and their middle aged daughter got out OK. The daughter helped the elderly couple out of the home.

The fire appears to have started near the fireplace in the basement.
