Austintown school board approves new contract for teachers' union

Posted: Updated:

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - The city's school board has approved a new contract for the districts teachers' union.

The vote is the last step in what has been a lengthy, and at times contentious negotiation process.

According to the school's superintendent, the board approved the contract with a vote of three to zero.

Two board members were not able weigh-in on the matter because their wives are teachers for the district.

The three-year contract includes about a 2 percent pay raise for teachers in the first year.
