Special mass held for new Pope inauguration

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A special mass to celebrate the inauguration of Pope Francis was held at St. Columba Cathedral Tuesday evening.

Bishop George Murry of the Youngstown Catholic Diocese lead the service.

He said it is the request of the new Holy Father that the Catholic community pray for the Lord to guide him as he accepts the position of Pope.

"My prayer for him is that he will have strength and courage," Murry said. "I think that there is a lot to do for the new Pope. There are many challenges facing the church."

Pope Francis was elected as the new leader for the Catholic Church last week. On Tuesday morning, a huge crowd gathered in the Vatican City for his formal installation.
