North Bloomfield woman accused of embezzling from employer in court

Posted: Updated:

A North Bloomfield woman accused of bilking her employer out of almost $100,000 appeared before a judge for the first time.

The owner of construction company Trumbull Contracting tells authorities that Alicia Sardich embezzled the money by writing 40 checks to herself.

The 28-year-old secretary was in Central District Court in Cortland for her arraignment this morning.

She's charged with theft and forgery. Both charges are felonies of the fourth degree.

Sardich told a Trumbull County Sheriff deputy that she has a gambling problem and agreed to reimburse her boss to the tune of $10,000.
