11-year-old girl charged with Canfield bomb threat

Posted: Updated:

CANFIELD, Ohio - Charges have been filed against a fifth grader, for making a bomb threat at Canfield Village Middle School, last week.

Police identified an 11-year-old girl, with help from school officials.

Canfield Superintendent Alex Geordan says there will be an expulsion hearing, held within the next 10 days.

The superintendent said a note was found in the gym, as students were entering the building last week, but nothing was found in a search.

Police recommend she be charged with making false alarms, a misdemeanor charge.

Geordan says this scenario is unusual because of the age of the child involved.

If you're hitting the road this holiday weekend a state trooper has a warning that law enforcement will be out full force. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reminding motorists, if you see emergency lights on the side of the road to slow down and move over. It's the law. For Canfield Trooper Brian Cowles, it's been more than three years since he was struck while helping a stranded motorist in the median of I-680.
