Congressman Tim Ryan meets with German Chancellor about purchasing natural gas

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Congressman Tim Ryan is working to try and bring the Shale Boom in the Mahoning Valley successful across the waters.

The Ohio Congressman, as head of the Congressional Study Group, spoke with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and a number of other German political organizations and businesses Wednesday to discuss Germany possibly purchasing liquefied natural gas from the United States, according to a release.

With Russia as Germany's largest supplier of natural gas, Ryan said he was looking to bring the county's business interests not only to the United States, but to the Valley as well.

"If we play our cards properly, the natural gas boom in our region is an opportunity to both sell this resource abroad and create jobs at home," Ryan said.

Ryan is set to host a German Delegation in Ohio in 2014.
