AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Penn National, the company that's developing the racetrack casino project in Austintown says it must evaluate the viability of the project.
On Wednesday, The Ohio Racing Commission refused to go forward with the proposal, calling for more spectator seating and horse stalls.
That could delay construction up to six months as Penn National needs to re-design facilities with added costs.
Austintown trustee Jim Davis told 21 News Thursday evening he does not believe that Penn National would walk away from the project.
"It is a grave dissapointment to the township," Davis said. "Everyone is displeased at this point with how things have progressed."
Davis said he is trying to act as a liason to Penn National and the racing commission.
