Security system to be installed to keep school system safe

BROOKFIELD, Ohio - Brookfield Local Schools took a step forward with security, adding more protection to the district.

The Raptor Visitor Management System software installation is set to be installed on Tuesday, and will be implemeted on Wednesday.

All visitors will have to provide photo identification before they are allowed inside.

Superintendent Tim Saxton said the school wants to be able to identify individuals as soon as they walk through the door with a legitimate form of identification.

"It is compared to a data base that covers all 50 states and looks for issues such as sex offenders or individuals who might have a warrant out for them" Saxton said. "If anyone is red flagged we can then deny them access to the general population."

If a problem or potential issue is detected, the school administrators or police are able to be discretely notified.

The Raptor system is now being used in over 8,000 schools.
