YCS Revitalization Plan to be discussed at city meeting

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Superintendent Dr. Connie Hathorn is planning another attempt to get parents and community members involved in Youngstown's restoration.

A meeting at East High School will be held on Tuesday at 6 p.m. regarding the city's Revitilization Plan and student program options available to families for the upcoming school year.

"Our specialty programs, combined with free breakfast and lunch, opportunities to earn college credit and funding for education, transportation to school and afterschool activities are just some of the reasons YCS has become a district defined by family choice," Hathorn said.

Families will hear about program choices for students grades three through 12, including the Discovery Program at Kirkmere schools and the College and Career Prep program at East and Chaney schools for seventh and eighth grade students.

The meetings are intended for families that currently have a child enrolled in a Youngstown City School.

Families who live in the Youngstown area but do not currently have children attending the district can attend a meeting to address their questions at Choffin Career and Technical Center on April 11 at 6 p.m.
