Friends and families separated during the confusion of bombings struggle to reunite

Posted: Updated:

Many of the dozens of people injured in Boston Marathon bombing were brought to Boston area hospitals in critical condition. Spread out through eight hospitals, most suffered injuries to their lower extremities.

A lot appeared to be severed limbs and parts of the lower parts of the body, lower extremities.

Families that were trying to reunite with runners that were in the process of running the marathon were headed to the Gardens and Commons - but many families then learned that their loved ones were rushed to the hospital.

Among the dozens hurt in Monday's blast, Lorraine Gagnon's cousin, cheering on the runners.

"Nobody knew where she was. Nobody knew anything," said Gagnon.

Family members said she lost both her legs, her daughter also hurt in the chaos.

"We don't know anything about what's going on with her. All we know is she's in a surgical unit. Celeste seems to think she has something in her leg, that's all Celeste knows," said Gagnon.
