Poland man loses life in car crash

LEE TOWNSHIP, Carroll County - A one-vehicle crash on Wednesday left a Poland man dead.

James C. Masterson, 54, of 1525 Thalia Avenue, lost control on a curve, overturned and went off the left side of the road.

Masterson was driving a Freightliner Tractor from Penske Truck Leasking that was carrying a trailer full of sand.

Ohio State Highway patrol is investigating the crash, which happened on state Route 9 just south of Autumn Road.

Alcohol is not suspected in this accident and seatbelts were in use.

    The Ohio Supreme Court is allowing offenders sentenced to death to appeal directly to the high court when an application for DNA testing is rejected. The new rule adopted by the court Monday resulted from a decision last year in which the court declared part of a state law unconstitutional for limiting appeals by death row inmates seeking DNA tests.
