Political analyst reacts to FitzGerald's campaign announcement

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A major factor in running a statewide political campaign is fundraising.

In the last election, Governor Kasich raised and spent nearly $18 million.

Political analyst William Binning believes the 2014 candidates will likely need $20 million or more.

"That's the big question. Can Ed FitzGerald raise that kind of money to bring his profile up high enough where he would be viewed as a legitimate contender against John Kasich?" Binning said.

Kasich is said to have a $2.5 million head start on his 2014 campaign war chest.
