Bristolville girl raises money for Boston Marathon victims

BRISTOLVILLE, Ohio - A Trumbull County girl is trying to help raise money for the Boston Marathon bombing victims.

Brooklyn Mullenax, a Bristolville fourth grader, says she wanted to help the Boston Marathon victims because there were so many of them.  "I was thinking of a way to help them so I thought of a t-shirt idea. There's a peace sign with a road on it that says road to healing," Mullenax said.

It's not the first time she's come up with fund raising ideas.  Last year she had a lemonade stand to help 7-year-old Marisa Kay Vincent who was run over by a Bobcat loader.

So far she's sold over 300 t-shirts just by word of mouth in her community.

Word of the shirts made it to Champion High School and the athletic boosters there made a big order.

Boosters Vice President Joe Truchan said, "We had promised the track kids that we were going to buy them t-shirts for track season. We thought it would be a good way to support the cause. The connection between the marathon and the track organization we thought it would be a good gesture."

All the profits from the t-shirts will be sent to www.onefundboston.org which was set up by the mayor of Boston and the state's governor.
