Austintown racino triggers hotel investments

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Penn National's $125 million racino coming to Austintown is triggering new commercial activity.

There are plans to invest close to $12 million into new hotels in the township.

Two hotel chains are already eyeing the busy corridor right off of I-80.

They're hoping to cash in on those looking for a place to stay the night now that the racino has won the state approval to operate a thoroughbred racetrack off of Route. 46.

Candlewood Suites is planning to build a 77 room hotel right behind the Holiday Inn Express, just off the highway.

Home 2 Suites by Hilton has also submitted a design for its new extended stay hotel. This would be located across the street from Quaker Steak and Lube, off of Interstate Boulevard.
