Funeral arrangements set for Shenango officer killed in police pursuit

GROVE CITY, Pennsylvania - The funeral for Officer William "Jerry" McCarthy will be held today.

The funeral mass will be held, Wednesday, May 8th at 11:30 a.m., followed by a procession and burial at Crestview Cemetery in Grove City.

The 60-year old officer was killed Thursday night when the cruiser he was riding in was broad sided by 26-year old Kylee Barletto, who was allegedly fleeing New Castle Police.

She remains under police watch at St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

She faces charges of Homicide by Vehicle, Involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault without a proper license.

Following the funeral service for Officer McCarthy, Shenango Township firefighters will hold a benefit for his family, the community, and all first responders.

Enough food has been donated to feed about 2,000 people.

The benefit will be held at the New Castle fire station, located at 2424 East Washington Street.

21 News will have team coverage at the funeral, procession and benefit for Officer McCarthy.
