YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Nurses across the country are being recognized this week for their hard work and dedication.
But this time, they weren't in a hospital or nursing home or school. The group of local nurses were at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Youngstown.
Members of the District 3 Ohio Nurses Association spent the afternoon bagging pasta. The group has been their service to the Second Harvest Food Bank since 2009 as a way to celebrate National Nurses Week.
"For the most part, the nursing practice is about prevention of illness and maintaining a good quality of health, a good quality of life for people. So, it is a no brainer during that during nurses week we would want to make sure people were nutritionally sound," says Linda Warino with the association.
In addition to their service, the group donated food and more $1,000 to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
