WASHINGTON- Valley Congressman Tim Ryan said the Valley and many other areas have been hurt by the Department of Defenses' lack of initiative to promote American made products.
A study released Wednesday morning by Guardian Six, a defense and national security consulting firm, said the nation's defense industry is in jeopardy. The consulting firm blames an increased reliance on foreign suppliers to provide critical defense material.
Congressman Ryan was in Washington, where the firm unveiled their findings.
"We're seeing an up-tick in manufacturing, in our region anyway," said Ryan. "But we've got a long way to go and I think if we are going to have an economic renaissance in the United States it's going to be because of manufacturers."
The consulting firm is recommending Congress work to strengthen national security. One way they suggest is to give innovative manufactures an incentive.
