YSU student to present demolition strategies for the Valley

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A Youngstown State University student has been invited to present an outline for city leaders dealing with the area's scheduled demolitions.

Councilman Mike Ray extended the invitation to Eric Shehadi to demonstrate a mathematical model to identify priority demolitions, as well as properly distribute limited funds for the city's demolitions.

According to our print partner The Vindicator, Shehadi, who is an intern with the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp., used a number of states and the national census while collecting his data.

The presentation will rank homes according to demolition standards. The mathematical approach is not only feasible, but could save the city time and money on future demolition projects.

Shehadi delivered his approach at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
