The Alzheimer Network to host Walking Together event Saturday at the Canfield Fairgrounds

CANFIELD, Ohio -

The Canfield Fairgrounds will be the backdrop Saturday for Walking Together, an event hosted by The Alzheimer Network.  Members of the all-volunteer group spent Friday afternoon getting things ready for the one mile walk that will begin at 9:00am Saturday.  Organizers say the walk symbolizes the bond between Alzheimer's patients and their caregivers, as well as the group's efforts to support families.  Monies raised from the walk will help fund educational programs, 11 different support groups, a 24/7 hotline and a monthly newsletter.

"This is all free and that is why we do events such as this to raise the money to help folks that are either caregivers or starting to feel like they may be having some of the symptoms of the disease," said Mary Kay Kollat with The Alzheimer Network.

"We just want people to come out and meet and greet us and have fun and also walk for a good cause," said Kathy Fynes with The Alzheimer Network.

Registration for Walking Together begins at 8:30am at the Canfield Fairgrounds. The walk will begin at 9:00am.  Registration is $10.00 per person.  There will also be a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction.
