Community raises support for needed kidney transplant

Posted: Updated:

MCDONALD, Ohio - A community is coming together to help a Trumbull county man get the kidney transplant he desperately needs.

A fundraiser was held tonight at the Reserve in McDonald to help raise money for Jeff Joseph.

Since the transplant isn't entirely covered by insurance, the Joseph family needs some financial help and the people of McDonald are rallying behind them.

The fundraiser featured raffles, auctions and food.

Jeff's wife, Angie, is actually donating one of her kidneys to her husband.

"They've always been active in the community and fortunately most people are doing pretty good and they are happy to help out and that's what this is about ... just helping somebody who doesn't have the money to pay the bills and that's what this community has come together to do," said Brian Fedyski.

The couple has two children and the transplant surgery is expected to take place at the end of June.
