Local Air Force helps Haiti orphanages

VIENNA, Ohio - Local Air Force Reservists are on a mission of mercy for orphans overseas.

Members of the 910th Airlift Wing's 76th Aerial Port Squadron loaded a school bus aboard a C-5 aircraft which is much larger than the C-130's stationed at the base.

The bus is being shipped on behalf of the Hope for Haiti charitable organization.

"They support the orphanages down there and this bus will get the kids from the orphanage to their school. They don't go to school unless they have that transportation," said Kevin Massie.

The donated bus is being sent to Haiti through a government program allowing private U.S. citizens and organizations to use space available on U.S. military cargo planes to transport humanitarian goods.
