Groundbreaking ceremony for Austintown racino

Posted: Updated:

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - A groundbreaking ceremony will be held to celebrate the beginning of the construction of the Hollywood at Mahoning Valley Race Course.

The groundbreaking comes after Penn National received approval of their plans from the Ohio State Racing Commission earlier in May. The business had to modify the plans after the OSRC requested additional seating.

Officials, community leaders and construction members will attend the ceremony, according to a release. The construction is budgeted at $125 million and is expected to create about 1,000 new jobs during construction and 1,000 when the facility opens.

21 News will live stream the groundbreaking ceremony on our web site today at 1 p.m. Stay connected with wfmj.com for more updates on this story.
