Local philanthropy looking for ways to attract residents shale transfers to Warren

Posted: Updated:

WARREN, Ohio - A philanthropy is working on a redevelopment plan designed to repopulate neighborhoods and attract new residents and shale industry transfers to Warren.

The Trumbull 100 announced an initiative to work on revitalization projects in Warren's central city, which includes the historic Perkins neighborhood and the 22 square block area.

The philanthropy's president said that this is a "once in a lifetime opportunity to attract growth from the booming shale industry to Warren, but they have options and we can't automatically expect them to choose us. We need to make Warren as attractive to them as we are able to do.

The organization has also invited the Fund for Our Economic Future to help work on projects.

Officials hope to schedule public meetings soon to brainstorm ideas and opportunities.
