Indians put McAllister on DL, recall Carrasco

Posted: Updated:

DETROIT (AP) - The Cleveland Indians have put right-hander Zach McAllister on the 15-day disabled list and recalled right-hander Carlos Carrasco.

The moves were made Saturday before playing the Detroit Tigers.

Carrasco can pitch while he appeals an 8-game suspension. Major League Baseball suspended him in April for "intentionally throwing" at New York's Kevin Youkilis.

McAllister is on the DL, retroactive to June 3, because his right middle finger is sore. He is 4-5 with a 3.43 ERA in 11 starts.

Carrasco was 2-0 with a 3.21 ERA at AAA Columbus. He started nine games and earned a save in one relief appearance.
