Former Salem business likely to be up for auction

Posted: Updated:

SALEM, Ohio - The building and equipment from a Salem defense contractor will likely be put up for auction.

Optex Systems bought the assets of the former Miller Holozwarth company at an auction.

Optex, which is a Texas based plant that makes military sighting systems, says it plans to use Miller Holzwarth's intellectual properties for it's own business.

Maynards Liquidating, which bought the building and some machinery, says it does not see the facility opening again unless it can quickly find a buyer that wants to operate the plant.

The Salem plant, which closed last August, left 80 people without work.
