Former Attorney General Marc Dann has law license reinstated

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Former Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann has been reinstated after serving a six-month suspension related to ethics violations.

A court record from the office of the State Supreme Court stated that Dann completed the requirements needed for reinstatement.

Dann resigned as Ohio's chief law enforcer in 2008 amid a sexual harassment scandal and later pleaded guilty to ethics violations involving campaign and transition funds. The state Supreme Court ordered a six month suspension of his law license last November, saying the reasons for his conduct were unsatisfactory.

In an email, Dann made the following statement:

"Today's decision brings to an end an incredibly challenging period of my life.  Since leaving public office a little more than 5 years ago I have learned a great deal about the importance of taking responsibility for one's actions and my respect for the rule of law has grown .  I am also especially grateful to my colleagues, clients family and friends for their love and support during this difficult time.

I return to working on behalf of my clients with renewed energy for standing up to the banks and big business on behalf of individuals and small businesses.  I intend to continue to fight the battle against wrongful foreclosures and rejoining the fight to protect the rights of hard working people."
