Tree topples onto power lines in Liberty

Posted: Updated:

LIBERTY TWP., Ohio - A large tree toppled over onto at least four power lines just in front of a home in Liberty Township during the early morning hours on Thursday.

The downed timber knocked out power for neighbors when it came crashing down at about 3:30 a.m.

OhioEdison and tree removal crews were able to chop it the tree down before repairing the lines in the heavily wooded area.

A portion of Ravine Drive was closed for hours Thursday morning, but is now open to traffic.

The tree just missed falling onto the house, but its branches did cause some damage to the home's siding.

Liberty Township's fire chief tells 21 News they received a handful of calls overnight regarding storm damage, but the tree on Ravine Drive ended up being the worst scenario following the storm system overnight.
