No merger between Mahoning Children's Services and Job and Family Services

Posted: Updated:

MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - A decision has been made, and there will not be a merge of Mahoning County's Children Services Board with the department of Job and Family Services at this time.

The idea had been under consideration by Mahoning County Commissioners as a way of being more fiscally responsible.

With a new Children Services Director set to come on board and the agency already sharing the services of the Mahoning County Prosecutor, to cut costs Commissioners are content with the decision, saying CSB has agreed to more cost sharing and transparency.

"We need, down the road, to start looking at how we can combine come of these agencies. This is not the time. They have things going on over there; a new director; and I think we've got to let him get on board and work with us," says Mahoning County Commissioner Carol Rimedio-Righetti.

Randall Muth of Portage County is the new Mahoning County Children Service's Director.

He's currently the head of Wayne County's Children Services Agency.
