NILES, Ohio - Officers were dispatched to Royal Mall Apartments on Tuesday night on reports of shots fired.

According to a report, the suspect, 25-year-old Sam Summerlin, Jr., fled the scene upon the police's arrival.

Summerlin allegedly approached 24-year-old Rashaud Mallory, waving a gun in his face and telling him to leave, and threatening to kill him.

When Mallory attempted to leave the complex, he said Summerlin shot into the hood of his car, disabling the vehicle.

Summerlin is being charged with felonious assault, failure to comply and discharging a firearm within city limits.

The suspect was arrested and is currently incarcerated in the Trumbull County Jail on $10,000 bond.
