Youngstown fireworks draw huge crowd

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A sight synonymous with Independence Day lit up the night sky across The Valley on Thursday night.

Fireworks were shot from the back of the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown.

The pyrotechnics show got folks into the patriotic spirit to celebrate the birth of our country.

The lawn and streets surrounding the Covelli Centre were packed with people, and cars were parked all along the Mahoning Avenue bridge.

    Police say a 2-year-old girl has been hospitalized in Ohio after a suspected opioid overdose. First responders were called to a home in Dayton around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday after receiving reports of an unconscious child. The child was rushed to a hospital where she is reported in serious condition. Dayton Police Lt.     Ohio is preparing to put a condemned child killer to death in the state's first execution in more than three years. Forty-three-year-old Ronald Phillips is scheduled to die Wednesday at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville. He was convicted for the 1993 rape and killing of Sheila Marie Evans, his girlfriend's 3-year-old daughter.
