Posted: Updated:

BOARDMAN, Ohio -An 8-year-old boy spent the Fourth of July holiday locked up in the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center after his mom called the police for  help.

According to a township police report, when officers arrived at a Hitchcock Road home Thursday afternoon, they were greeted by a 31 year old woman with a black and blue mark under her eye.

The woman told police that her 8-year-old son kicked and punched her several different times that day because she refused to let him play a video game on her cell phone.

The woman says that eventually, she had to lock herself in the bathroom where she called 9-1-1.

Officers say the boy admitted punching his mother several times.

The child was handcuffed, then booked on a charge of domestic violence before being locked up in the Juvenile Justice Center.
