Mesopotamia Township celebrates Ox Roast

Posted: Updated:

TRUMBULL COUNTY, Ohio - Hundreds gather for a great tasting fundraiser in Trumbull County.

The 40th annual, Mesopotamia Volunteer Firemen's Association, Ox Roast includes more than 160 dealers, live entertainment and a variety of food.

The Firemen's Association was formed in 1972 to help raise money and recruit members for the department.

"All the helpers are our volunteers are local people. What that does is it helps keep our taxes down. The money generated helps pay for fire equipment. Again, the fire department puts it on, so proceeds are going to a great cause," says business owner Peter Schaven.

The event runs until 8 p.m. Friday.

On Saturday, the gates open at 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
