A source tells 21 News that Purfey stuffed the baby wipe into his son's mouth at their home on Park Avenue in Struthers because the infant was crying. Once it lodged in the infant's throat, Purfey allegedly used the grooming scissors to try and get the baby wipe out causing more injuries.

At last report, Purfey's eight week old son was in Akron Children's Hospital in critical condition.
