GM Lordstown plant to idle production for a week

Posted: Updated:

LORDSTOWN, Ohio - The General Motors plant in Lordstown is idling production for a week at the end of August.

Communications manager Tom Mock tells 21 News the plant will not shut down and he said the temporary production idling is "to align our production with market demand."

President of United Auto Workers Local 1112 in Lordstown Glenn Johnson says there is one week in the schedule when an inventory adjustment is needed along with aligning the need for Cruze with the demands of the consumers.

"At times, our company decides what's best and that is to not overbuild and keep our product and the supply and demand in line with each other," Johnson says.
