Warren teenager shot and killed at party

Posted: Updated:

WARREN, Ohio - A Warren teen has died after being shot at birthday party at Perkins Park on Friday night.

Warren police say 18-year-old McKayla Hopkins died from a single gunshot wound to her torso.

She was at a park pavilion for the party; however authorities say no one has come forward with information.

City Councilman Eddie Colbert says police can't solve crimes without people's help. "Anyone that obviously can help solve this case and bring closure to the family, we greatly, greatly ask them to please step forward," Colbert said.

"Very mannerable, very respectful young lady that just got out of school. It's tragic that it happened to her," said Warren resident Maralene Dawson.

Detectives are currently investigating but say they have no arrests at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Warren Police Department at (330) 394-2521.
