Program gives educators on-site job experience in the manufacturing field

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - More than 20 local teachers, who took part in a summer program called Educators in the Workplace, are using the experience to develop lesson plans for the classroom.

Each of the teachers spent time with a local manufacturer for an on-site job experience.

The program is part of a regional collaboration to promote careers in advanced manufacturing.

Now the teachers can relate their experience to the students.

"This gives them real life examples of what they learn in the classroom and how it gets applied in the work world it's absolutely phenomenal and gives them bonafied examples,"said Paula McMillin, Program Coordinator for Educators in the Workplace.

The summer program was funded through the Oh-Penn Pathways to Competitiveness Project.
