Bank donates backpacks to school children

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A local bank is making an investment in helping needy children have a better school experience.

Huntington Bank is donating 700 backpacks for elementary children throughout the Valley.

As part of the United Way "Stuff The Bus" program, Huntington volunteers helped load the backpacks on the bus on Tuesday.

"We think education is one of the most important things is community and frankly a difference maker and we feel that by helping kids in K-thru-4 early to be excited and looking forward to going to school and if we can make it a little bit easier that's what we want to do." said Huntington Bank regional President Frank Hierro.

With the help of other donor partners, including UAW Local 11-12 at Lordstown, the United Way will be able to fill the backpacks with school supplies for the children.
