Bristolville man sentenced in murder-for-hire plot

Posted: Updated:

CLEVELAND, Ohio - A Trumbull County man is going to prison for trying to hire a Cleveland Clinic emergency room patient to kill a woman.

Cleveland federal Judge Christopher Boyko on Wednesday, sentenced 23-year-old Andrew Martin of Bristolville to 12 years in prison.

In April, Martin pleaded gully to using an interstate commerce facility for murder-for-hire and wire fraud.

Authorities say Martin offered $10,000 to an ER patient to kill a woman in a dispute over ownership of her deceased brother's house in Lakewood. The intended victim wasn't harmed.

The sister says Martin and another man not charged in the alleged plot took advantage of her brother. He died in 2010 and was suffering from dementia.

Martin is no longer employed by the clinic.
