Youngstown anti-fracking amendment sent to elections board

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -  Youngstown City Council passed language for an anti-fracking charter amendment onto the Mahoning County Board of Elections.

The amendment was proposed by Frack Free Mahoning Valley, and would prohibit oil and gas drilling inside the city limits.

Petition signatures must be certified by the Elections Board before the issue goes on the ballot in November.

A similar amendment was rejected by voters last spring.
