New aid in Mahoning County for locating missing persons with disabilities

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio- A new database will allow law enforcement officials to access information about at-risk citizens who may go missing.

The program, titled "HOMESAFE" will be specifically geared toward people with disabilities such as Alzheimer's and Dementia, and allow people to fill forms out to provide information to the database, according to a release. It will be a restricted database for law enforcement only that will provide names, photos and the type of disability.

The program has been implemented by the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office. Representatives from the office will be at the Canfield Fair this week from 1 to 4 p.m. to help individuals fill out forms.
