Furniture store encourages donations to help feed the hungry on Labor Day

Posted: Updated:

Youngstown, Ohio - Sheely's Furniture and Appliance in North Lima is helping feed hungry families in the Mahoning Valley on Labor Day.

Anyone who drops off a donation of non-perishable food items will receive a $100 coupon to be used that day on a purchase of $1,000 or more.

Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley distributes food to 153 hunger relief organizations in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

These organizations include faith based pantries, homeless shelters and soup kitchens, shelters for battered women and after school programs.

Last year, the Food Bank distributed more than 9 million pounds of food in the tri-county area.
