NILES, Ohio - Police have released dashcam video of a city councilman during a traffic stop.

4th Ward Councilman Edward McCormick Jr. is charged with operating a vehicle while impaired following an injury accident. He is scheduled to appear in Niles Municipal court September 20th.

According to a police report, McCormick Jr., registered a .228 blood-alcohol content after submitting to a breath test following the collision.

Under Ohio law, a person with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater is considered intoxicated.

The report says a vehicle driven by 59-year-old McCormick crashed into a Ford truck as McCormick was turning onto Park Avenue on August 24.

The officer cited McCormick for operating a vehicle while impaired, and making an improper turn.

According to the report, McCormick told police he had been drinking beer and whiskey that day at a Niles bar.

The report did not specify who was injured in the accident, or the extent of injuries.
