Man on death row for killing Youngstown baby sentenced for another murder

Posted: Updated:

JEFFERSON, Ohio - A man already on Ohio's death row for the shooting death of an infant in Youngstown, has been sentenced for the 1997 killing of an Ashtabula man.

A judge in Ashtabula County on Friday sentenced John Drummond Junior to 23 years to life in prison for  aggravated murder and weapons violations.

Drummond was previously sentenced to death for the 2003 shooting death of three month old Jiyen Dent during a drive-by shooting in Youngstown.

However a federal appeals court has ruled that Drummond should receive a new trial in that case.
