Steelers TE Miller inching toward return

Posted: Updated:

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller is happy to be off the physically unable to perform listm but still isn't sure when he will return to practice or suit up for a game.

The 2-time Pro Bowler tore three ligaments in his right knee last December. He called the move to get off the PUP list a step in the right direction, but left it up to coach Mike Tomlin to make the final call when Miller can slip on the shoulder pads.

Miller led the Steelers with 71 receptions and eight touchdowns last season. The 30-year-old says he's trying not to look too far down the road and won't rush back.

Second-year tight end David Paulson will likely start in Miller's place Sunday when the Steelers open the season against Tennessee.
