Local Delphi Retirees accuse PBGC of stalling

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Delphi and GM salaried retirees are calling the latest move by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation an act of desperation.

The PBGC is fighting an order from a federal magistrate to release thousands of documents, which 22-thousand Delphi and GM salaried retirees hope will lead to the restoration of their pensions.

"We anticipated that they would do that because what it does is that it causes a delay. That is what they have been doing for the last several years.", says Bruce Gump of the Delphi Salaried Retirees Association. "We are very used to all of their tricks and the deceit that they have put forward to try to prevent the release of the documents and help us and the American people to know what happened, and why they did it, and who made the decisions most of all," says Gump.

There has been no ruling from the judge yet on the PBGC's request that she reconsider her order.

The judge ordered the documents to be turned over by September 30.
