Investor buys property for new hotel in Salem

Posted: Updated:

SALEM, Ohio - A California investor says he plans to break ground in two to three weeks on a new hotel and commercial development near a Salem auto dealership.

Lati Pegany tells 21 News that he has competed a deal to buy 40 acres of land from John Kufleitner, who operates a Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealership next to the property along the Route 62 bypass.

Pegany says he plans to build a hotel operated by GuestHouse International Inns, Hotels and Suites, which according to it's web site, operates 60 locations in 24 states.

Pegany says this venture is similar to one he opened in Montana, which caters to people associated with the gas and oil industry.

He says the hotel will have a mud room where guests can store their boots.

However, Pegany also says the hotel will offer pillow top mattresses, large screen televisions and offer a hot breakfast.

Pegany also plans to build a convenience store and gas station as part of the development.

He also says he's in talks to bring a full service car wash and a restaurant to the location.
