Campbell water main break fixed

Posted: Updated:

CAMPBELL, Ohio - The water main break reported on Wednesday night that caused momentary flooding is now fixed.

The City Water Department worked into the evening replacing the broken water main.

Just before 5 p.m., a steady flow of water started pouring out of a ten inch main line on Wilson Avenue near Madison.

Crews had to dig on either side of a fence erected by a private company to find the  water valve.

Mayor Bill Van Such said most of the city was effected until the leak was isolated by 7:30 p.m.

However, there was still a concern if Campbell's Fire Department had to be called to a fire since most of the hydrants are connected to the water main.

Campbell's tanker truck holds 700 gallons, so fire departments in surrounding communities like Coitsville, Struthers, and Poland were placed on alert in case their help would be needed.

There was no boil alert issued during or after the break.
