Posted: Updated:

CAMPBELL, Ohio -  Campbell police and Mahoning county Children's Services are investigating a case of suspected child abuse.

Police were called to a home on Regent Street early Monday morning where a 17-year-old boy fell while exiting from a second floor window, trying to get water.

The boy, who weighs just 70 pounds, told authorities that he's regularly denied food and water.

According to investigators, the teen said that his bedroom door is locked and tied shut.

A neighbor who believes the boy is malnourished and dehydrated told police she observed the boy drinking from a garden hose and gave him bananas which he ate hastily.

Hospital nurses found marks on the boys back, some of which were ulcers caused by inactivity.

The boy claims his step-father kicked him in the back when he tried to smuggle some water. No one has been charged.

The boy is now in the custody of a relative.
