Dog dies in Youngstown house fire

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A two alarm fire gutted a two story home on Youngstown's west side Friday afternoon, killing a dog.

Crews were called out at 2:30 p.m. to the  home at 21 Glacier Avenue, just south of Mahoning Avenue.

When crews arrived, smoke and flames were shooting into the air.

The fire gutted the home and more firefighters were dispatched to the scene to keep the flames from spreading to neighboring homes.

The man who lives at the home says he want out for a few minutes to buy cigarettes and came home to find the house burning.

Firefighters say the man's dog died in the blaze.

There's no word on what caused the fire.
